Different objects made of bone and antler

Animal bone, and antler from elk or deer were raw materials for a number of different objects. Implements such as needles, whorls, weaving tablets, bone ice skates along with household utensils and tools, such as spoons were made from bone and antler.

Inventive craftspeople also used other types of bone material, for example whalebone or elk teeth to make gaming pieces. Luxury fittings were made from materials such as walrus bone and tusk.
