Scale box
Bronze scale box. Along the edges of the runes of the both the lid and the box are runic inscriptions which relate how the owner of the box acquired it and which issue a curse on anyone who might steal it. The inscription runs: "Djärf acquired from a man from "Samland" these scales in... land. (It is probably the region of Semigallia in Latvia which is referred to here). And Värmund and inscribed these runes, A bird tore apart the pale thief; People saw how the corpse-cuckoo (raven) swelled". Stray find, Sigtuna.
