Sword

Double-edged iron sword with Latin inscription on the blade: INGELRIIMEFECIT, which means "Ingelrii made me". The name is known from other swords and is, like the name ULFBERTH, a mark of quality and refers more to the workshop where the weapon was made than to the smith who forged the blade. The heavy hilt is polychrome damascene; in the complex knot band pattern there is an striking colour contrast between smooth, copper red contours and shaded bands, which are made of thin braided threads of silver and copper. Stray find in wetland (lake), Sigridsholm, Lunda Parish, Uppland.
