Coin (jital)

Pendant from an Indian silver coin, probably printed in about 980-1000 in Ohind (modern day Hund in Pakistan). The coin depicts a resting water buffalo and a horseman holding a spear. This coin is a unique find in Sweden, but some examples of jitals are known from Russia and Eastern Europe. They probably came to the Baltic Sea area along with Islamic coins from Central Asia. Part of a hoard find, Skedstad, Bredsättra Parish, Öland.
