Coin (halvpenning)
Nordic silver coin minted around 825, probably in the Jutland trading centre of Hedeby. On the obverse side we see the stylised letters 'CARO/LUS' and on the reverse side the stylised letters 'DORSTAD'. The coin imitates the Carolingian issues from Dorestad (now Wijk bij Duurstede in the Netherlands). Grave find, Birka, Bj 526, Adelsö Parish, Uppland.
