Pendant
Silver pendant depicting a female figure moving froward and holding out a drinking horn. The woman is wearing an embroidered dress which reaches down to her feet and buttons up to her neck. The nose and chin are very prominent. On the head we can see what is either an embroidered hat or a skilfully braided hairstyle, with a knot at the neck and an embroidered headband. She is wearing two heavy-set armlets on her wrists. The pendant has usually been interpreted as a Valkyrie welcoming a fallen warrior to Valhalla with a horn of mead. But it could equally well be an aristocratic lady of the house at a drinking ceremony. Stray find, Klinta, Köping Parish, Öland.
