Ring brooch

Bronze penannular brooch with openwork, ornate ends which are connected. Runic inscription on the back. Only a few of the runes remain. Most of the inscription has been worn away. Those runes which may be distinguished contain a runic sequence "raþu" which could be interpreted as Rāð-þū "Interpret for yourself". But it may also be the remnants of something else. The whole sequence of runes runs "uf…r aþuk s…fiku--…lþus…----i". What goes against the idea of Rāð-þū is that r and aþu are situated at different parts of the brooch and that there are a couple of runes before r. Stray find, Vamlingbo Parish, Gotland.
