Coin (penning)
Norwegian silver coin minted around 995 for king Olaf Tryggvason (995–1000) based on the English model. The obverse side bears the inscription 'ONLAF REX NOR' ('Olaf King of Norway'). Olaf Tryggvason was the first Norwegian king to issue coins. The obverse side of the coin bears the inscription GODPINE MO NO ('Godwine moneyer in Norway'). The name of the moneyer Godwine also appears on Danish and Swedish coins. Part of a hoard find, Karls, Tingstäde Parish, Gotland.
