English silver coin minted around 979-985 in Derby for King Ethelred II (978-1016). On the reverse side of the coin is depicted the hand of God between the Greek letters alpha and omega. The religious symbolism in the coin is powerful and may be linked to the threatening political situation under the reign of Ethelred. Part of a hoard find, Sandtorp, Viby Parish, Närke.
