Ladle

Bronze ladle with deep bowl and flat upward facing handle. Around the outer edge of the bowl and over the handle it is decorated with circles, triangles and zigzag lines. The front part of the bowl, partially damaged, is ornamented with a 'life tree'. The ladle was probably made in the eastern Mediterranean region, though it has also been suggested that it was of Coptic (Egyptian) origin. Whichever is the case, it was probably an object which was used in religious ceremonies. Settlement find, Helgö, building group 2, Ekerö Parish, Uppland.
