Textile fragments

Silver thread embroidery on a small piece of silk fabric. The motif is a backward-looking deer, probably a symbol for Christ. The pure heart of the deer/Christ is denoted with an inlay of a small piece of shimmering white quartz. Grave find, Birka, Bj 735, Adelsö Parish, Uppland.
