Soap-stone pot

Round bottomed soapstone pot with iron handle and handle attachment. The pot is partially reconstructed. In Sweden soapstone occurs naturally in northern Bohuslän (deposits continue on into Norway) and Jämtland. Soapstone was mined during the Viking Age in both these regions. Grave find, Birka, Bj 879, Adelsö Parish, Uppland.
