Coin (halvpenning)

Pendant from a Nordic silver coin minted around 825, probably in the Jutland trading centre of Hedeby. On the obverse side of the coin there are two opposing birds, which may be interpreted as fighting cockerels. This motif also appears on other locally made objects. Grave find, Birka, Bj 646, Adelsö Parish, Uppland.
