Shell pendant

Cowrie (Cypraea) pendant. In the upper edge a hole for hanging has been drilled. Cowries occur in the waters around the Arabian peninsular and the Indian Ocean. On their way to Scandinavia they ended up on the Mediterranean islands where they were sometimes reshaped into pendants. Grave find, Endregårda, Endre Parish, Gotland.
