Axe

Iron axe with long, narrow blade and long shaft with wings. It is intact and not intentionally deformed, but was found together with a deformed sword and a spear, buried in a pit as part of grave mound and chamber grave Bj 750 at Birka. The axe is of Slavic origin and a pair of similar axes have previously been found in sites in northern Poland and Germany. It is the only one of its type found in Birka so far. Hoard find from Birka, Adelsö Parish, Uppland.
