Silver disc

Round silver disk. On the upper side engraved niello decoration of Anglo-Irish floral ornamentation. The triangular fields between the circles and semi-circles is filled with triquetras. The upper side was originally ornamented with twelve round silver knobs, eleven of them placed in the intersections between the circles and one in the centre of the flower motif. The back of the disk is smooth. Whether the cracked object is jewellery or some form of mount, for example a book band mount, is unknown. But three large holes, made without much care in the centre of the disk, suggest that at some point it was mounted on a surface. Part of a hoard find, Inedalsgatan, Stockholm Parish, Uppland.
