Needle case

Cylindrical iron needle case on which twisted silver thread has been applied over two layers of fabric. The outer layer is probably silk, the inner layer a coarser fabric. On the outside the needle case is decorated with silver bands and mica slivers (the latter being almost completely detached). Inside the cylinder there are three sewing needles planted in a wad of wool. Grave find, Birka, Bj 750, Adelsö Parish, Uppland.
