Coin (penning)

Swedish silver coin minted in Sigtuna in around 1000–1005 for king Olaf the Swede (approximately 995–1022) based on the English model. On the obverse side of the coin we see the inscription 'OLFAF ON SIDEI', with the last word being interpreted as Situne Dei ('the City of God'). SIDEI may also have been a semiliterate spelling of the name Sigtuna. Findspot unknown.
